Take ownership of financial administration for a team building autonomous drone inspection systems. Free up our CEO from finance tasks and bring structure to a scaling operation.

Job description

Job description

At Mainblades, we're redefining how airplanes get inspected. Our automatic drone system captures high-resolution images, detects defects using machine learning, and is being used at major airlines across the globe.

We've proven the concept. Now we're scaling from 35 people to 50+ by year-end, and our financial operations need to scale too. That's where you come in.

The challenge

Right now, our CEO handles all financial administration: From invoicing and bookkeeping to expense tracking and financial reporting. As we grow, this isn't sustainable.

As our Finance Admin Specialist, you will take over the day-to-day financial operations. This is a hands-on role where you own the administrative side of finance, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. If you also have experience with business controlling (budgeting, forecasting, KPI tracking, or financial analysis) even better. We're looking for someone who can grow beyond admin into a strategic finance partner.

You will:

  • Own financial administration: accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, expense management, and reconciliations

  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and prepare monthly/quarterly financial reports

  • Coordinate with our external accountant and ensure compliance with Dutch tax and accounting regulations

  • Process payroll-related financial transactions and vendor payments

  • Monitor cash flow, track outstanding invoices, and manage payment schedules

  • Set up and maintain financial systems, documentation, and processes that scale

  • Support budget tracking and variance analysis (if you have controlling experience)

  • Identify process improvements and automation opportunities to increase efficiency

Job requirements

What we're looking for

What matters most:

  • 3+ years in financial administration, accounting, or similar role

  • Strong knowledge of Dutch bookkeeping practices, VAT regulations, and financial compliance

  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Exact Online, Twinfield, or similar)

  • Meticulous attention to detail—errors in financial records aren't acceptable

  • Ability to work independently and take full ownership of the finance function

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines

  • Clear communication with both finance and non-finance stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Experience with business controlling: budgeting, forecasting, financial planning & analysis

  • Background in a tech, startup, or fast-growing scale-up environment

  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial process automation

  • Knowledge of project-based accounting or cost allocation

  • Experience supporting fundraising or investor reporting

  • Professional certification (e.g., NBA, RA, or similar)

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation that reflects your experience and impact

  • 30 vacation days + 8 flexible public holiday swap days

  • Employee incentive plan—a real stake in what you help build

  • Optional pension contribution (3rd pillar)

  • Fresh fruit, good coffee, and colleagues who like building useful things

  • The chance to build the finance function from the ground up and grow with the company

  • Direct collaboration with leadership and visibility into business operations
